Sreekrishna Vilasam Library was started on 17-08-1915 (M.E 01-01-1091) in a rented building. The senior citizens of Malayinkil remembering that, at the time of Freedom struggle, the freedom fighters of this village were concentrated here and communicated their programmes. It is one among the “A” Grade libraries in Kerala, registered under Kerala Literary, Science and Charitable Act, and now registered under Kerala State Library Council and the Reg. No. is 01/28 NTA. The Kerala State Library Council through a Government Order declared this library as a Reference Library in 1984. In olden days radio programmes from Akasavani were amplified through a loudspeaker to the public were done. Now a new amplifying system is here for the above purpose. The old radio and two loudspeakers used in early days are exhibited here in an attractive way. Now we have 2500 Sq.Ft. floor area (including both floors) in our own terraced building situated exactly in Malayinkil junction. A large hall for storage of regularly issuing books, a special room for reference and rare books, another room for gazettes storing, a small hall (70 seats capacity) for conducting seminars, children’s workshops and another room as news paper and periodicals reading room for the public.
